Torquay Agree Deals With Two Trialists
Torquay United have agreed terms with two of our current trialists.
Manager Chris Hargreaves held positive talks with defender Angus MacDonald and midfielder Courtney Richards and both players have put pen to paper on what I presume are 12 month deals.
It's said that talks continue with fellow trialists, winger Toby Ajala and striker Duane O'Archie and it's tentatively hoped they might be ready for an announcement following the game against Walsall at Plainmoor tomorrow afternoon.
21 year old MacDonald signed for us after two previous loan spells where he made 16 appearances back in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. The centre back can also fill in on the right.
20 year old Richards has long been watched by Hargreaves, so when he was released by Brighton this summer, the gaffer was quickly in to see if a deal could be done and whether he'd fit in at the club and was one of the first given an invite for a trial.
Speaking to the Torquay Herald Express the gaffer said.
'Angus is strong, brave and proved his versatility at Salisbury. He jumped at the chance to come back here, and we are sure there is improvement in him. I have been delighted with what Courtney has done for us so far - he's been well taught, sets high standards for himself and is desperate to be better every day.'
Both players will be officially paraded when we face Walsall tomorrow in the 3pm kick off.
It's already been announced that Krystian Pearce will miss the match with an ankle injury he picked up against Yeovil Town, so MacDonald may be in for an instant third debut.
