Yeoman Signs New 12 Month Deal
Torquay have today announced that striker Ashley Yeoman has put pen to paper on a 12 month extension at the club.
Similar to last season, Ash made his breakthrough in the first team in the final few weeks of the campaign, scoring three goals for us including the winner against Bury, and one of the winners over Exeter.
Manager Chris Hargreaves believes that his performances in the final few weeks of the campaign more than showed that he is potentially the most natural finisher at the club, and he was keen to work with him again next season so he'll be delighted to have seen him extend his deal.
Speaking to the Official Site Yeoman said of the contract.
'The summer has come at the wrong time again. It was the same last year because I didn't look like having a chance around February and March. I went out on loan to play some games and came back here for the end of the season. Fortunately, I scored some big goals in big games and that has obviously helped.'
Yeoman goes on to say that when he was out on loan at Dorchester, he felt he wasn't going to be offered a new deal but Hargreaves kept assuring him he was out on loan to get some confidence and sharpness, and the gaffer was true to his word when he returned to the club and got him involved.
As for his goals, he says the feel the strike against Bury was his real breakthrough because he didn't feel he was playing particularly well in the game, but the ball fell for him and he got a real boost from the goal, and the one against Exeter stands out for him as well because we were struggling at half time.
'The excitement for next season is already starting to build and the day the fixtures are released is when you start picturing going to these places at different points in the year.'
