Finally A Good Day For Hargreaves

Finally A Good Day For Hargreaves

Manager Chris Hargreaves was happy again following Monday's victory over Exeter City, and even if it isn't enough to save us from relegation this season in a key game for the fans, he was pleased to give them the victory.

Speaking to the Official Site following the two one victory, Hargreaves admitted that when they took the lead he did feel it was very much a case of here we go again, but thankfully in the second half we found a gear, took the game to them, and got the two goals we needed to take the victory and three points.

'It was a good day for us. My overall plan was very different when I arrived at the club and I probably didn't realise the gravity of the job with the finances and facilities. I'm delighted for the players to take some stress away from their lives. It's a big thing in football to win games, especially at your local rivals, and it shows the tension for fans.'

Hargreaves goes on to say that it's a bit of respite for us and he felt it was hugely deserved, because especially in recent games we haven't always come out with the result he feels our performances have warranted, and obviously it keeps the hope alive, however unlikely that hope might be to come to fruition because it would take some remarkable results for this to swing in our favour.

'We live to fight another day and there's no bias from me because I'm a realist and I know what we have and haven't done, but we've performed like that in most games. We just haven't scored enough.

He finishes the interview by admitting that to achieve his aim at the club, which is to turn us into a team that develops our own, we are obviously going to have to go through more pain than he originally counted on, but he knows the players he's selecting are giving him everything so it just remains to be seen who will make the drop with us, and help us return as soon as we can which really has to be our focus now with the table how it is.
