'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hargreaves - It's Simple From Here On In

Manager Chris Hargreaves has said it's very simple for Torquay now following the defeat to Accrington. Win, keep your place in the team and we survive.

Lose, you lose your place and we possible lose our league status.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game a very disappointed Hargreaves explained.

'This is a tough job and nobody said it was going to be easy. I'm not going to feel sorry for myself because I took the job on, knowing how difficult it was going to be. It's a game we shouldn't have lost. It's an ugly 0-0 if anything but we weren't tight enough in one instance over 90 minutes, and we let someone have too much time on the ball. If you do that, you get punished. What we do now? We work hard and try to beat Burton on Tuesday.'

Easier said than done with Burton in sixth place in the league and in good form themselves, it's going to be a hell of a test.

What mattes for Hargreaves though is we can't rely on other teams, it's solely down to us and it doesn't matter who we face, football at the end of the day is 11 v 11 and it's down to whether you let the opposition take their chances, or whether you take your own, so form and names and everything else goes out the window as long as the players have the right mentality going into a game.

We clearly haven't for the vast majority of the season, but there are enough games left for us to rectify that and a five point gap is only five points. Two wins and that no longer exists if results go our way, but of course there are more than two games left and each of them will be key.

'At some point, I need 11 players to pick themselves and I've said that to the whole squad. Otherwise you're spinning plates. You need an 11 to go and do it, and I can pick you each week. At the moment, I'm trying to get a winning team and it's very difficult.'

For Hargreaves though he feels the Accrington game as another 'fierce lesson' for the lads, and however 'harsh' it may have been, they simply have to learn from it and really learn that particular lesson yesterday if not weeks ago.
