Stevens May Be Set For Return?

New manager Chris Hargreaves has confirmed that former Plainmoor colleague Danny Stevens has returned to the club to be involved with training.

The 27 year old midfielder was with the club between the summer of 2007 and 2013, wherein he made 215 appearances for Torquay during his time with us, scoring 28 goals.

At the end of last season he was released by former manager Alan Knill and has remained unattached since which was a surprise for Hargreaves, but he's moved to bring him back to the club but stresses it is purely to only train at the moment.

Speaking to the Herald Express that gaffer confirmed the rumours of Stevens' return and a chance to resurrect his career, but was clear that whilst we are obviously taking a look at him, no decision has been made yet and certainly no agreement is in place.

'There is no agreement or guarantees at the moment - I want to see what level Danny is at. He's a fit lad and always has been, and he's a talented player but we just need to see if he can help us now.'

Saying he was surprised that his old friend hadn't found a new club yet, Hargreaves went on to say that if it seems that he can help Torquay out in our current predicament then it's down to whether something can be agreed that suits the club and Stevens for the remainder of the season and then maybe it'll be something that's looked at again.

Should Stevens return given his experience at the club, you'd hope he could fit right in and could be a good foil and leader for the new manager in the dressing room.
