Harrop - We Deserved More
Caretaker boss Geoff Harrop has said he felt we deserved all three points from the game against Morecambe given the effort the players put in.
Our efforts on the day were rewarded with a point following the one all draw, but speaking to the Official Site following the full time whistle, Harrop explained.
'I don't think our goalie had a shot to save in the first half and I'm really disappointed with the end results because the three points were there to be taken.'
Morecambe obviously found their equaliser six of so minutes from full time, after Aaron Downes had put ahead inside of 20 minutes, but the disappointment for Harrop came from the fact that we did have chances to have killed the game off long before they made one of their strikes count.
'The guys have set great standards over the last couple of days and I can't ask any more of them. On a heavy pitch, they've worked their socks off and the crowd appreciate that. We've had some lovely comments from the fans at the end of the game and you can see they are fully behind the players, which is really important. The fans were magnificent yesterday and kept us going when we had some tired legs.'
Harrop goes on to credit the performance of the back four because defensively we have had all issues all season, and he describes their performance on the day as being 'superb' but a wonder strike has been our undoing, and sometimes you can't cater for that.
On to the next match now for the caretaker boss, and he'll prepare for that game the same as this by demanding from the players that they maintain their standards and keep doing their jobs to the best of their abilities because he knows they are capable enough.
It's another point on the board, and we have to hope for another three from our next 90 minutes.
