Poor Errors Cost Knill More Than Derby Defeat

Manager - at the time - Alan Knill has said that poor errors and bad decision making during the game against Plymouth on New Year's Day ultimately cost us.

As fans will know since then, it cost him more than three points as well.

Speaking to the Official Site in a shorter than usual after match interview, Knill explained that he felt we were well in the game for the first hour and then of course Plymouth took the lead, and doubled their advantage five minutes from time as Torquay failed to get back into it.

'It's difficult to find positives after losing two derby games and we're again involved in both games until that first goal. We had to change a little bit and opened ourselves up more, we do the right things, and then make a mistake and get punished for it.'

Knill went on to explain that he always knew in the atmosphere and the tightness that is a derby, whoever got the first goal in the match would have a decided advantage for the rest of the match and unfortunately for us, it went in their favour.

The disappointment for him was obviously that for a couple of games we really did have a spike in form and performance levels but of course the loss to Plymouth we are now back on a two loss bounce and he knows that had we taken our chances in this game especially, it really could've been all different as we welcomed the New Year in.

Of course this defeat proved to be one too many, and Knill was subsequently relieved of his duties.
