Knill On Brass Departure

Manager Alan Knill has said that losing long term colleague Chris Brass will be a blow, and he's likely to look in house for a replacement.

Knill and Brass teamed up at Bury, before then both moving the Scunthorpe and then finally Torquay, but speaking to the Official Site Knill explained.

'It's a big loss and I've obviously known Chris a long time, but when an opportunity comes like this he had to take it. Bury is about 25 miles from where he lives, he has two young children and he's getting more money.'

Knill adds that it's hard to stop people from taking an opportunity they will benefit from and he knew Brass had to speak to them and make his own mind up, and even though you don't want good people to leave, you can't stop them and hold them back so he wishes him the very best at what is a former club of his both as an assistant manager from their spell together, but also a club he played for during his playing days.

As for where Torquay go from here, there is a gap to be filled and for the immediate future Knill says he'll utilise the options within the club that he has available to him such as the youth staff and switch people around for a little while whilst the club assess their options.

Head of Youth Geoff Harrop will certainly play a part in that and the gaffer admits he's already had a good talk with him in terms of the vacancy and we shall see what transpires in the coming weeks.
