Manager Alan Knill has spoken on a variety of subjects ahead of the game against Newport this weekend.
Speaking to the Official Site about Newport firstly, the manager said that he saw them a few times last season so he knows the threat they pose, but equally we are far enough into the season now for scouting reports to be accurate about their strengths and weaknesses, even though they are a newly promoted side, so he's not expecting too many surprises from them.
'They have been good so far. They were good last year, so it's a tough game. If you're doing your job, you know them from last year because any of the teams expected to go up, you go and have a look. I'm not surprised by the start they've had because teams come into the league with a lot of momentum.'
Knill also spoke about new signing Jordan Chapell and Courtney Cameron.
Chapell obviously completed the scoring against Cheltenham and the manager said that he was delighted with how both had settled into the club and how they were training and performing when selected, but he appreciates they are young and not the finished product so there will regularly be parts to their game that he's not happy with, but he knows now that when he raises something on the training pitch, they will both respond, listen and try and incorporate his words into their game.
'We signed Chappy and Courtney, and we're not signing people that have played a lot of games, so you know it's a work in progress. I have to say their wages reflect that and you accept the things they don't do well, but the things they can do well is a bonus, as long as you see them getting better.'
Out of the two of them Jordan Chapell has adjusted the better, as Knill says that despite setting him some personal targets at the start of the season, he never expected him to have found the net four times already so he's delighted with how he's started his life at the club.
In other news, winger Niall Thompson has joined Worcester City on a one month loan deal.
The player has been on the fringes of the first team so far this season, but Alan believes getting some good first team time under his belt will aide him better at this stage.
He's obviously figured as a substitute three times this season, but starting games and having 90 minutes count, so hopefully it'll be a good boost for him.
