Knill Delighted With Forward Improvements

Manager Alan Knill has said he was delighted to see the improvements that our forwards had made lately, as though we were creating chances, finally it came together against Cheltenham Town and not only did we create chances, but we finally started finishing them off to take a fantastic confidence boosting four two victory.

Speaking to the Official Site as preparations begin for our next match against newly promoted and quite well performing Newport County, Knill focused on the improvements that he'd seen over the last few weeks.

Explaining that whilst nobody could fault Karl Hawley and Callum Ball's efforts and determination over the last few weeks, even though it was an unvoiced concern by the manager publicly, he was starting to worry about the fact they had only scored one goal between them ahead of the Cheltenham game.

Hopefully that run of form won't be repeated now we got the big victory under our belts.

'Strikers are judged by how many goals they score. Sometimes, they do a lot more than they are given credit for, but people always ask whether he scores a goal. Callum hadn't, but the work all week has been on shooting, crossing, get in the box and be brace and I don't believe it's a coincidence we scored four goals.'

Knill says that it's not rocket science really, players have to get into goalscoring positions if they want to score, and whilst the ball won't always reach them, it's about making it count when the ball does reach them.

'Karl is also judged by goals but he does an awful lot of other stuff. We needed more goals from the strikers and this week they have done it.'

Let's hope next weekend they do it aswell, and we improve our record of two wins from eight games. Three wins from nine games would certainly look healthier and so would our league position.
