Torquay Utd 1 Southend 4

17th November 2012
15:00
Plainmoor

Southend travelled to Torquay on Saturday afternoon facing a side unbeaten at home in league two. By the time The Shrimpers left Plainmoor they'd not just ending The Gulls' unbeaten run they'd shattered it with a resounding win!

Gavin Tomlin (10) got Southend off to a flying start when he broke the deadlock early on.

One-nil looked likely to be the half time score but by the time this arrived, following a quick fire double from Britt Assombalonga (39 & 45), it was actually three-nil!

Southend carried on at the start of the second half where they left off in the first with Tomlin (46) extending the lead further a minute after the break.

Ryan Jarvis (52) pulled back a consolation for Torquay but the home sides afternoon got worse with Lee Mansell sent off...

The Shrimpers couldn't add to the scoreline but 4-1 was more than enough.
